Wintering: A Seven Seeds Quiet Practice Workshop
2/25
2:00PM - 5:00PM
Winter can be a challenging time for many of us. We are often depleted from the abundance of holiday activities and over-socializing. We ignore self care routines that keep our immune system and energy storage bank healthy and strong. This leaves us vulnerable to the viruses that are rampant at this time of year.
The energy of winter is hibernation and contemplation. All of nature becomes still and is in a state of quiet preparation for the coming of Spring. Therefore, this is a time for us to conserve our energy, reflect inwards and cultivate our true nature. Mother Nature is teaching us!
The element of Winter is water. Water has the tendency to sink downwards, expressing Winter’s energy of closing and storage. Recent studies on bio-electricity pose the theory that Qi (energy) is conducted through the water-gel substance that connects our tissues, called fascia. When our body is fluid and water flows, we are healthy and full of nurturing Qi. If our internal waterways become stagnant, illness arises.
In this workshop we’ll honour the fluid systems of the body and the yin organ of winter, the kidneys. Through Somatic Movement, QiGong, Breath, and Play, Sheila will ultimately lead you into a deep constructive rest experience through the guided meditation practice of Yoga Nidra. This experience will be enhanced with a healing sound bath featuring Carol Scheg-Morissette.
Light refreshments provided.
